  • MORE INFORMATION ABOUT BANNERMAN AUCTIONS

Bannerman Auctions is a joint venture from Jeff Shrader of Advance Guard Militaria and James Supp of Coronado Trading Company, focusing on the sale of estates and collections of Arms and Militaria in addition to other treasures from the wider world of collectables.

The items showcased here have been sold or represented by the owners of Bannerman Auctions under their separate businesses Coronado Trading Company and Advance Guard Militaria. The items have been chosen to represent the type of material that you should expect to see on upcoming auctions!

For over 30 years, Advance Guard Militaria has offered quality Arms & Militaria through their catalog sales, website, and at collector shows.  AGM’s ‘big break’ came in the fall of 2009 when a tip from a good customer led to the purchase of the Oorlogsmuseum Dadizele, a well-known private military museum on the old Western Front near Ieper, Belgium.  The purchase and sale of this museum became an international event, and AGM was able to capitalize on this momentum with the subsequent purchase and sale of numerous private collections, including a treasure-trove of spectacular material from Bob Fisch, author of Field Equipment of the Infantry, and former curator of the West Point Museum.

Coronado Trading Company is an appraisal business owned by James Supp.  A US Army veteran, James started in the field by reproducing medieval armor, and has since gone on to study many aspects of historic material culture, specializing in the study of pre-industrial manufacturing methods. His varied interests and passion for research gives him a great breadth of knowledge, and he’s given talks on varied subjects from the history of playing cards to the evolution of footwear.  Working with estates, auction houses, and museums provided James with opportunities for exposure to a wide variety of antiques as well as the ability and experience of organizing and managing estate sales, appraisals, and collections of all varieties.  The reputation he built on the antiques, collectibles and pop culture scenes has afforded him opportunities to conduct major collection appraisals throughout the United States.  Traveling with Antiques Roadshow, he has forged personal and professional relationships with many advanced antique collectors, dealers, and auction houses.

James had been nudging Jeff to consider adding auctions to AGM since the early days of their friendship.  After experiencing the great relief of hiring a great real estate agent to manage the sale of his mother’s home after her passing, Jeff came to realize that a business that can properly serve the needs of a collector’s family in similar circumstances fills a very important role in the marketplace.  This, combined with the sheer size and value of many of the better collections coming to market and an increase in opportunities to dispose of deaccessioned artifacts for museums made the decision to start Bannerman Auctions a natural evolution of the business.
